| LOCATION: Maonakala is on the way to LaPerouse Bay.
Follow Makena Alanuie past Big Beach. Go past Ahihi Cove which is right next to the
road. At the top of the hill, on your right is a rough
parking lot.
PARKING: Very rough parking lot. Drive slowly unless you have a SUV. Don't leave valuables in car. ACCESS: Easy trail about 100 yards to the water and then head left. BEACH: Very small and somewhat rocky. Shady areas available. SNORKELING: The water was clear. There were a lot of fish and coral formations. I rate this as a very good snorkeling site. Be aware of currents during some seasons. If there are waves, it probably is best to find another beach unless you are experienced. SURFING: Just South of this beach is an area called Dumps. It is a good surfing area with a South swell. |
